Positive thought yields positive results!

Hey everyone, Jen here!

How many of you have heard someone say, stay positive? I’m sure most have had one of those people in their life. I know I have. You know what? They were right! Staying positive keeps your mind focused. You won’t have time to worry about your troubles, because as you look for the positive, you’ll actually find it.

Let’s take an example. Weight loss! Ok, some don’t worry about loss, but we all want to get healthier! That’s one reason you follow my emails. Losing weight is difficult for some, easy for others, but even if every pound is a struggle, keeping a positive attitude helps! When you don’t lose a pound after a good week, do you get down or do you immediately look for a positive? Maybe you lost inches? Maybe you are feeling less hungry because you are controlling what you eat. Maybe you just have a bit more energy, but chances are there is something positive if you look for it.

So, what if you cheated really badly on your diet… Do you give up and stop trying, or do you look for the reason you cheated? Maybe there is something missing from your diet that needs to be added or increased to keep that hunger or craving at bay. Are you eating all of your allowed food? Sometimes we think starving ourselves just a bit will help those pounds fall off, but I’m telling you it doesn’t work that way! If you eat too little, your body shuts down fat burning and turns to storage because it thinks you are starving. The positive attitude would be to go to review your food list, make an adjustment and start fresh in the morning!

If you are struggling, find a friend to talk things out with. Find a positive friend who understands and supports your goals. They will help you analyze what’s wrong and find that positive in your journey that will boost you through your temporary problem and on to the goals you have set for yourself!

I wanted to let you know my good news! My husband and I have finally reached an 80 lost pound level as a couple and I have been able to lose over 10 inches since I’ve been on Slenderiize! Yay me!

So, if you are looking for some healthy help to move that scale, let’s sit down and talk about options!

Since we are at Tax Day, maybe you’ve found a need for an extra paycheck. If so, let’s talk about an option that could build a good part time income for you! Every home should have at least one person with a home based business. When you live your business, you’d be suprised how much of your life is deductible.

As always, be great to yourself! Until next month!

Turkey Cobb Salad

4 large eggs
1 1/8 tsp smoked paprika
Hymilayan pink salt and freshly ground pepper
1 1/2 lbs turkey cutlets
3 tbsp red wine vinegar
3 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil
1 pint cherry tomatoes, halved
2 romaine lettuce hearts, chopped
1/3 avocado, peeled and chopped
1/4 cup crumbled feta cheese (about 1 ounce)

Put the eggs in a medium saucepan and cover with water by 2 inches; bring to a boil, then remove from the heat, cover and let stand 10 minutes. Transfer to a bowl of ice water to cool.

Meanwhile, preheat the broiler. Combine 1 tsp paprika, 1/4 tsp salt, and pepper to taste in a small bowl. Arrange the turkey cutlets on a baking sheet and sprinkle both sides with the paprika mixture. Broil until just cooked through, about 3 minutes per side. Transfer to a plate and set aside while you make the dressing.

Combine the vinegar, the remaining 1/8 tsp paprika, 1/2 tsp salt, and pepper to taste in a large bowl. Whisk in the olive oil along with any collected juices from the turkey. Finely chop 1/4 cup of the tomatoes and add to the dressing.

Peel and halve the hard-boiled eggs. Discard the yolks or save for another use. Chop the egg whites and add to the bowl with the dressing, along with the lettuce, avocado and the remaining 1 3/4 cups tomatoes. Chop the turkey, add to the bowl and toss. Divide the salad among bowls and sprinkle with the feta cheese.
